When we first moved here wild vegetation had gotten the best of what once were fields. On the edges of the forest that surrounds our fields are several old wild plants and trees, such as Cornel, Cherry, Apple, Sorbs, Pear, Rose Hips and Juniper. Wherever possible we grafted the wild fruit trees, combining the strength of the native plants with the sweetness of those cultivated over centuries by local farmers. Growing wild In the pastures are plants, such as Thyme, St. John's Wort, Mint, Lavender, Sage and many others. Now we have a big garden where we produce only organic fruits, grains, vegetables, and herbs. Because the earth was left to its own devices for many years, it is completely free of chemical pesticides and other damaging agents, and is thus abundantly fertile and generous. We have also planted a small orchard of diverse fruits.
