Alpe della Luna is the only home in the valley. The property is adorned with a peaceful stream that runs down from the surrounding mountains. On the other side of the stream is a national park, "Riserva Alpe della Luna". While trekking along the forest paths, protected by the shade of oaks and chestnuts, one can often see hawks, deer, foxes, hares and other wildlife. In January of 1994, after renovating a small section of the house, we moved in, and thus began our adventure. Over time we discovered that it took a substantial effort to establish our home, but in doing so we have been rewarded beyond measure. To be present while seasons unfold, witnessing the aliveness of the earth, buds peaking out after a long winter soon to form branches, flowers and fruits; to be awed by the silence of the mountains that surround us, then hear it broken by a sudden gust of wind rushing through the trees or by the sharp tongue of a hawk calling to his clan--these are all experiences that transcend description, enriching and transforming the spirit. These and others are precious moments this place has granted us.
Now that our renovations are nearing completion, we wish to share these rich experiences that only nature can provide. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, The Mountains of the Moon are far from any source of pollution, nurturing rejuvenation of body, and freedom of spirit.
